Yes We Did! I mean we did right?

What a monumental day January 20. 2009 will be. It seems to me that the whole world is in a massive frenzy, so it's only right that us good negroes at "True-Renaissance" shed some light, put my two cents, I mean give our opinion on the inaugaration and our fearless leader President Barack Obama. Let me express to you first, and foremost that I'm am as elated, overjoyed, geeked up as any one of my brothers and sisters living on this planet, and I see President Obama as a symbol of hope, and of the progress we have made collectively as a people. Be that as it may, I for one am all the while wondering, through all the glorious excitement; how this one Black man residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave S.E. (a.k.a my city) is going to affect me personally, someone tell me. And I know this rhetoric might seem selfish in tone or what have you, and maybe self-centered to even have a train of thouhgt so "miniscule", and self absorbed in these ground breaking days we're approaching, and I have no illusions that I am not in solitary confinement of sorts for having apprehensions about this whole whirlwind of "change" that is supposedly somewhere in the very near future. But Let me be the first to say I am by no means a cynical thinker, I am to the contrary, I'm a very optimistic person that sees a positive in the most grim and bleak situations this world has been known to offer. I just ponder certain dilemmas that trouble me like: Does Barack being in office mean that police will treat black men with respect and dignity? Or will they continue to treat us worse than the dirt beneath our feet? Does his presidency mean that parolees can come home to something better than $7.00 an hour? or will the booming prison business continue to be a revolving door for us i.e a helluva trickbag}; and by the way we are as neccessary to the prison system as we are to the N.B.A. Yea really think about it. I actually have to many questions to ask, but unfortunately you already know the answer to these rhetoricals. But on a higher, sweeter note I am all the while elated at the outcome of this election, and not for me but for our very young sisters and brothers. They can still strive to be great. You know how they use to tell us "shoot for the stars and land in the clouds" I think I got the slogan right haha. It might be some truth to it for the youngins. My era of dudes I would say between the ages 0f 24 to 30 we're old dogs feigning to learn a new trick or two; its quite possibly to late. And please don't get me misconstrued readers its not to late to be successful, and prosporous, I mean to late to succeed using the system and parameters put in place before we had a chance to succeed within their structure. My brothers and sisters dont fret thats why we created this site. This is your platform. We have been corrupted and hardened from the ills of this society and we carry a; "believe it when we see it," mentality. I've said to much and this might not even have been the proper time nor place to express these issues but o'well I hope i've done some good, and put another angle on these strange days and times. I'm going to get back to the day to day happenings of the Rennaisance Men (music, fashion, relationships etc.) believe me. This moment only comes around once every four years or in this scenario maybe once in a lifetime.

P.S Lets let the youngins be stars!

Well Lil Cuz, I Love the fact that we can even have this conversation, I love the fact that young Black men, can have this dialogue. That in its self says that a change isa commin'!! The most beautiful thing Barak has done that everyone has to honor and respect even if you don't like his political views on universal health care, or the war in Iraq, etc. he has single handedly knocked down a barrier that has stood in front of not only African American People but African People as a whole. Because of this foundation there is no limit to what we can accomplish, politically anyway. Rescue me if I'm wrong, but thats a Cold Blooded Brotha!
